Dearborn University Consortium Center

LSSU offers baccalaureate-completion programs in Dearborn that build on your education from your community college. This approach allows you to complete your degree at a reasonable cost. Programs require from 32 to 45 credits from LSSU; the remaining credits will transfer from other colleges and universities.

All bachelor’s degrees require completion of general education. For students transferring from a community college who have the “MACRAO stamp” on their transcripts, the general education requirements are considered met by LSSU. Generally, MACRAO certification requires six credits of English, eight credits of social science, eight credits of humanities and eight credits of natural science and mathematics.

The B.S. degree requires a total of 24 credits of mathematics, social science, natural science and computer science. The courses required in your major or general education may count toward this total. Degrees require 124 to 128 credits of courses that are numbered at the 100 or higher level by LSSU. To obtain the baccalaureate degree from LSSU, 32 credits and 50 percent of all 300 and 400 level courses required in the major must be earned from LSSU.

BS Business Administration (Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, International Business)

Four B.S. completion programs in Business Administration are offered at the Dearborn Center: Entrepreneurship, International Business, Management and Marketing. All require completion of the Common Professional Component: foundation courses that can be completed at Henry Ford Community College and from Lake Superior State University in Dearborn.

The Lake Superior State University School of Business has earned a reputation for producing excellence at every level. Graduates are in high demand for their ability to compete in the 21st century global economy. Programs in Entrepreneurship, International Business, Management and Marketing are offered on the Dearborn campus. Accounting and Finance & Economics degrees can be completed on campus in Sault Ste. Marie.

BS Criminal Justice – Generalist, Corrections, Law Enforcement

Three B.S. degree completion emphasis programs are offered at the Dearborn Center: Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Generalist. Students will complete the Pre-Criminal Justice Core with coursework from Henry Ford Community College. Students selecting the law enforcement option may be eligible for police certification by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Students completing the corrections option may be eligible for certification by the Michigan Corrections Officer Training Council (MCOTC). Students in the law enforcement and corrections programs will be required to complete an internship and a senior project.

The Lake Superior State University School of Criminal Justice, Fire Science & Emergency Medical Services has earned a reputation for producing excellence at every level. The Law Enforcement, Corrections and Generalist programs, offered on the Dearborn campus, offer a protective services paradigm of enforcement, adjudication and remediation, which carries the field beyond police, courts, corrections and fire. The integrated model utilizes technology, science and a proactive future orientation. Graduates have a distinct advantage in the workplace and are prepared to meet the challenges they will encounter in their careers. Degree programs in Loss Control, Criminalistics, Public Safety and Fire Science can be completed on campus in Sault Ste. Marie.

About LSSU

• Textbooks- are available from the Barnes & Noble at Lake Superior State University bookstore. Call (906) 635-2645 or order online at http://lssu.bkstore.com/
• Library Services- check out our library webpage and click on Regional Centers for information on off-campus services for our students.
• My.LSSU- is available for students to access e-mail, set up a calendar, register for classes, check grades, and much more!
• Disability Services- are arranged through the regional center staff, who can assist with providing extended testing time, proctoring in alternative locations, obtaining alternative format for textbooks and exams. Disability Services serves as the facilitator among students, faculty , and regional center.
• A degree right here- You can finish your degree without traveling to LSSU's main campus. The required courses for a degree are offered here in Dearborn. Please consult with the Regional Center Director regarding any main campus class requirements.
• When to start- It's recommended that you first complete an associate degree and obtain the MACRAO stamp.
• Completing your degree- If you have an associate degree, you can typically earn a bachelor degree in two or three years by taking two classes per semester (including summers).
• Classes the fit your Schedule- Our classes are offered on week nights or weekends. We also have tape-delayed DVD, Interactive TV and on-line classes. A typical night class meets from 6-9 p.m. for 15 weeks. The weekend classes usually meet five weekends (Fri. & Sat.) throughout the semester.
• Faculty- Our faculty have a masters degree or Ph.D. in their field. Their classroom and career experience, enhance program instruction. Both full-time LSSU faculty and adjunct professors provide high-quality education to our students.
• Academic Resources- Through our website, students can access LSSU's library card catalog and obtain books via intercampus loan. Additionally students can obtain books through the Dearborn Public Libraries as long as they are enrolled as a student.
• We'll help- Our site director at the Dearborn University Consortium Center is right here to assist with educational planning, scheduling, obtaining resources and other issues. The LSSU faculty visit each regional center and are available to answer your academic questions

Students may apply on-line. A non-refundable $25 application fee is required. If preferred, a paper application (pdf) may also be completed. The paper application has a non-refundable $35 application fee.
