B.S. / B.A. Degree Requirements
Students must earn eight credits in natural science, social science, computer science or mathematics, in addition to any credits from these fields used to meet general education requirements, to meet the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree. These credits may also be used to meet requirements in the degree program. To meet the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree, one year of a modern foreign language, in addition to any credits in a language used to meet general education requirements, must be earned.
General Education Requirements
All baccalaureate degrees require completion of general education course requirements. For most students completing their degrees from LSSU in Dearborn, general education requirements will be met when they are admitted from a Michigan community college with the MACRAO stamp on their transcript. Check with the catalog from your community college for specific course requirement for MACRAO certification; generally this will require six credits of English, eight credits of mathematics and natural science (including one lab science), eight credits of social science and eight credits of humanities.
Dearborn University Consortium Center
LSSU offers baccalaureate-completion programs in Dearborn
that build on your education from your community college.
This approach allows you to complete your degree at a
reasonable cost. Programs require from 32 to 45 credits from
LSSU; the remaining credits will transfer from other colleges
and universities.
All bachelor’s degrees require completion of general
education. For students transferring from a community
college who have the “MACRAO stamp” on their transcripts,
the general education requirements are considered met
by LSSU. Generally, MACRAO certification requires six
credits of English, eight credits of social science, eight
credits of humanities and eight credits of natural science and
mathematics.
The B.S. degree requires a total of 24 credits of mathematics,
social science, natural science and computer science. The
courses required in your major or general education may
count toward this total. Degrees require 124 to 128 credits of courses that are
numbered at the 100 or higher level by LSSU. To obtain the
baccalaureate degree from LSSU, 32 credits and 50 percent
of all 300 and 400 level courses required in the major must be
earned from LSSU.
