Presentation on Chinese Private Educational Programs
12:00 PM until 1:00 PM
Wei Liu, a Chinese visiting professor from the College of Education at Shaoxing University, will give a presentation entitled Private Educational Programs in China today. During her presentation, Prof. Liu will talk about the variety of programs with different purposes for varying age groups that are not offered in regular schools. Everyone is welcome.
Award-winning writer Kim Addonizio, who has been called one of our nation's most provocative and edgy poets, will be on campus today to present a reading and master class, as well as a public reading and reception. The public program will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the Walker Cisler Center Crow's Nest. The master class, which is open to any aspiring writers who are interested in learning more about poetry, will be held at 2 p.m. in room 305 of Crawford Hall of Science. Those who have reviewed Addonizio's poetry have said her work is "known for its gritty, street-wise narrators and a wicked sense of wit." Her book, Lucifer at the Starlite, was a finalist for the Poets Prize and the Northern California Book Award, and her collection, Tell Me was a National Book Award Finalist. Addonizio's many honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, two NEA Fellowships, and Pushcart Prizes for both poetry and essay. Her other books include her novel-in-verse Jimmy & Rita, two novels from Simon & Schuster, Little Beauties and My Dreams Out in the Street, and the poet's guide Ordinary Genius: A Guide for the Poet Within.
