Student Government presents Laker Straightedge

Description: Do you want to finish this semester strong? If so, why not finish the semester strong as a Laker Straightedge? A “Laker Straightedge” can be defined as an LSSU student who commits himself or herself to studious efforts and furthers this commitment by refraining from the use of illegal drugs and the consumption of alcohol. If you are interested in signing a pledge to become a Laker Straightedge, then visit the Student Government table outside the Quarterdeck during lunch hours on Thursday, Dec. 5, and Friday, Dec. 6.

Holiday Week: Door-Decorating Contest

12:00 PM until 2:00 PM

Organization: Alumni

Description: Show your holiday spirit and express your creativity by decorating your door in your residence hall of office. Break out the garland, lights, tinsel, wrapping paper, and anything else that puts you in the holiday spirit. Judging begins at noon, so write to notify us of your entry by 9 a.m. today. Prizes sponsored by SAILS and the LSSU Alumni Association.

Student Government Passport Fair

Description: Planning on vacationing in the coming year? Do you need a passport? Here's your chance to get one, courtesy of Student Government's Passport Fair. Student Government is offering to pay $25 toward part of the cost of a US Passport for the first 30 students, and the first 25 students will also get their passport photo covered. You will need to bring a form of picture identification and birth certificate (no photocopies) as well as your student ID. Read more in the announcements on MyLSSU and at

Description: The Manzoni family, a notorious mafia clan, is relocated to Normandy, France, under the witness protection program, where fitting in soon becomes challenging as their old habits die hard. Come check this Laker Cinema presentation before your finals. You'll have three opportunities to check it out: on Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. and on Dec. 6-7 at around 9:30 p.m. or shortly after the Laker hockey game.
