Direct Loan Exit Counseling
Federal regulations require all students who have received Federal Direct
Loans (subsidized and/or unsubsidized) to have loan exit counseling for
the following reasons:
Student has graduated
Student is attending less than half-time
Student is not returning to LSSU
Students who fall into one of these three categories are sent exit counseling
information by mail. You may also view a short video that explains the
basic facts about repayment of subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Direct
Loans along with the student's rights and responsibilities as a borrower.
Other important topics such as deferment, consolidation, and default are
discussed. This information will help you to manage the repayment of your
student loan debt and to avoid any difficulties that could adversely affect
your credit rating or your eligibility for student loans and other aid
in the future.
NOTE:
Consolidation of Federal Student Loans through a private loan company will convert the federal student loans to private loans and lose all military student loan repayment availability.

"Lake Superior State is the only robotics program of its kind in the country. I can work up any research or senior project idea with a professor or my advisor. I studied for a year in Japan through LSSU's connection with the Japan Center for Michigan Universities, and became fluent in Japanese. A Japanese company called Fanuc makes most of the robots in our lab. I'd like to roll my senior research project into a career with Fanuc that bridges the two countries and cultures."
