What is Student Philanthropy?

In a nutshell, it is PAST LAKERS; SUPPORTING PRESENT LAKERS; SUPPORTING FUTURE LAKERS

If you search for the word ‘Philanthropy’ in the dictionary, you might read something like
‘Philanthropy – 1. a spirit of goodwill towards all people especially when expressed in active
and generous efforts to help others; 2. A charitable act or gift;
3.an organizations which distributes or is supported by charitable contributions.

Each student benefits from donations made by LSSU alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends – whether you received a
scholarship, study at the library, work-out at the SAC or even just show up for class.  There are a lot of places, technology,
equipment and spaces that we use every day without considering how it has come about.  Don’t believe it?  Check out
these facts
about philanthropy at LSSU.

When you enrolled at LSSU, you also joined a community of people committed to making a
difference, which is why LSSU students chose to come together to help each other out
(and the future of your someday – alma mater) through fun and easy philanthropic projects.
No one is asking students to give a lot of money.  But as with all things Lakers, we take on our philanthropic
efforts with pride.  So get involved and join the fun.

Invest in your Laker experience by taking action:

The focus is not on the size of the gift, but on the participation of our campus community.  Help us start a new tradition at Lake State
and create a sense of pride in LSSU.

When you become an LSSU Alumni, don’t forget all those who helped you along the way.  A university degree is really
just the beginning of a life-long relationship.  And when you continue to invest in it, that degree becomes more valuable.
A university’s reputation today speaks for its degree, whether it was earned last year or 10 years ago.

Do good with what thou hast, or it will do thee no good.

Jonathon studied the foraging behavior of white-tailed deer. Previous studies claim that deer have the ability to determine which vegetation will benefit them the most during different times of the year. In the fall, deer select diets high in energy content to maintain body mass and temperature. Nachazel's study explored the relationship between preferred white-tailed deer forage and energy levels found in the three types of vegetation. His results will assist managers in helping decrease mortality rates during the winter.
