Great Lake State Weekend
Haunted Homecoming Parade
October 26, 6:00PM, downtown Sault Ste. Marie, MI
The LSSU Alumni Association will host Lake State’s first ever Homecoming Parade on Friday, October 26 prior to the Laker hockey game. The parade will kick off the weekend, starting at 6:00 pm in downtown Sault Ste. Marie among the young trick-or-treaters, winding up Sheridan and Prospect hill, entering campus at the East Gate and coming out at the Easterday entrance to wind up at the Norris Center.
The Norris Center will be the site of a Pep Rally starting at 6:30pm with free food, free Laker souvenir items, music from WLSO and various local vendors. Wear your Laker royal blue for a “blue-out” at Friday’s game OR come in your favorite Halloween costume. There will be judging for a costume contest in Abel Arena following the game, along with free ice cream sponsored by Student Alumni Involved for Lake State (SAILS).
Fans will fire up to beat the Spartans when the puck drops at 7:35pm!
We are seeking floats and other entries in the parade
Entries should focus on Laker spirit/ beat the Spartans but can also incorporate a Halloween flavor, in keeping with this year’s GLSW theme. Student organizations, campus departments, local clubs, businesses and groups of fans are all encouraged to put together a float or other entry. You don’t have to own a flatbed to participate! Decorate a pickup truck or convertible, golf cart, Rhino or four-wheeler. Bikes, skateboards and rollerblades may be problematic because of the long hill in the route. But walkers are also welcome.
Register your parade entry online or contact LSSU’s Alumni Office by email email@example.com or by phone (906) 635-6219.
