Function and Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Director Retention and Academic Advising, provide support with the coordination of events and programs related to Advising, Retention and Orientation.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
„« Assist with the planning of new student orientation activities.
„« Assist with coordination of Laker Week and its various activities.
„« Assist the director with coordination and management of communication for purposes of advising, retention and orientation.
„« Play a key role in assisting the director with assessment and evaluation of advising, retention and orientation initiatives.
„« Assist with budget preparations for and evaluation of orientation, advising, and retention.
„« Assist the director by developing support for academic advising.
„« Work collaboratively with university offices to enhance the success and retention of our students.
„« Provide and serve the administrative support to the Orientation and Retention Committeeˇ¦s and other workgroups as deemed appropriate.
„« Perform related duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
Associate degree required, Bachelorˇ¦s degree preferred. Minimum two years related work experience preferred.

Must be detail-oriented; must have excellent written, oral, intrapersonal and interpersonal communication skills, allowing effective coordination and organization of various constituencies toward a common goal; must have well-developed analytical and problem solving skills, ability to work independently and as a team; proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database programs; ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends and early mornings; ability to maintain confidentiality and reflect professionalism as a representative of LSSU.

 
Physical and Mental Demands
Adequate physical fitness to be able to sit and concentrate for long periods of time; ability to lift and carry boxes up to 50 pounds; use of gross motor skills to perform management and organizational duties; use of fine motor skills to operate computer; problem-solving ability; ability to see, hear, and speak with or without the use of aids to perform normal office tasks; mental capacity to assist with numerous administrative responsibilities; ability to work with and correctly interpret data for evaluation and budgetary purposes.
