| Function and Responsibility |
| Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, responsible for installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of campus-wide computer networks, telephone equipment and related services. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide timely support and repair for all network related user requests
o Faculty, staff and students
o Moves, adds and changes
o Cabling
Provide timely support and repair for all telephone related user requests
o Faculty, staff and students
o Moves, adds and changes
o Cabling
Install and maintain network, telephone and associated data communications equipment
Maintain stock of related network, telephone, data and electronic tools and parts necessary for network and telephone support
Order necessary materials and equipment needed for network and phone support for all campus offices and dorms
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including cable plant
o Cable type, cable routes, punch-block locations and pair counts
Produce and maintain required documentation and diagrams
o Location, equipment type, node names and addresses
Develop and implement performance improvement measures for the campus-wide computer network
o Gather and analyze network performance data
o Investigate network changes that will improve performance
Assist and coordinate Residential Network support (network and telephone) by working in conjunction with the IT Helpdesk.
Develop network configurations for the residential and campus network
Provide telephone infrastructure support as required
Provide network infrastructure support as required
Provide assistance to the Network Administrator as required
Assist other Information Technology staff as needed
Supervisory responsibilities
o Functional supervision may be exercised over student assistants

| Qualifications |
Required:
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Computer Science or Computer engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (a total of five years experience), two years of which involve experience in network administration and support; three years experience with telecommunications systems, preferably with Rolm/Siemens products; mechanical and electronic aptitude; knowledge of networking (software, hardware, cabling); possess good computer skills; ability to interact and communicate positively with users including students; willingness to accept odd hours and/or shift work.
Desirable:
Completion of formal telephone training courses
Completion of formal network training courses
Knowledge of TIA/RIA standards
A+ or other network certification
Documented experience with Rolm/Siemens switch and PhoneMail
