Student chemistry, biology studies funded by undergraduate research grant
Seven students received cash grants this past spring to support six research projects that are happening this summer. The projects range from exploring an organic method to break up petroleum byproducts in soil, to a novel use of photography that documents the biodiversity found in one cubic foot of space. [ more ]

Michigan outdoor writers, editors take time out from conference to tour aquatic research lab
Michigan Outdoor Writers Association is a non-profit organization of professional outdoor writers, photographers, editors, and radio and television broadcast journalists. The group traveled to the twin Saults for a three-day meeting hosted by the Algoma Kinniwabi Travel Association (Algoma Country). [ more ]

Annual Lake State Golf Classic comes doctor-approved
The 24th-annual Greater Peninsula Orthopedics Lake State Golf Classic — held this year May 31 and June 1-2 — changes venue to northern Michigan's Boyne Mountain Resort, with its zip line course, horseback riding, indoor water park, and 11 golf courses. [ more ]
