"Most natural science classes at LSSU offer students as much hands-on experience (lab hours) as lecture hours, which ensures that the university experience prepares us for the real world careers, whether you work at a desk or out in the field, or both. There are endless advantages and opportunities available to LSSU students due to its location on an international border.

I found my career path on campus when my advisor posted a job for the Bi-national Public Advisory Council (BPAC), a group dedicated to and overseeing the clean-up the St. Mary's River. I was able to gain experience and network on both sides of the border, ultimately finding full-time employment before I graduated with my biology degree."

Announcements!!

 

The pool will be open for early bird swim only 6:15-9am August 25-September 5. Regular school hours for the pool will resume September 8.

The fitness center will be closed August 22nd from 9am-4pm because of Lakerpalooza. The track will be useable by 5pm.

The Regional Outdoor Center (The ROC) is getting even closer to being open!! With the new addition of snow shoes, mountain bikes, and the soon to be purchased camping gear, the ROC is on track for it's grand opening in the Fall of 2014!!.

The Rock Climbing Wall is now OPEN to the Public!! It is open Monday - Thursday from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Make sure to bring your student ID, or Norris Center Membership Card. If you're not a member, it is $3 to climb each day.

About the Norris Center

The James Norris Physical Education Center, that includes over 275,000 square feet of space, is the busiest building on campus and the University building that is used most by the surrounding community. The Norris center is used for everything from aerobics classes to concerts and youth camps. It has served as a host for a number of regional high school basketball and hockey tournaments, as well as band camps. More information can be found on the About page

"Lake Superior State is the only robotics program of its kind in the country. I can work up any research or senior project idea with a professor or my advisor. I studied for a year in Japan through LSSU's connection with the Japan Center for Michigan Universities, and became fluent in Japanese. A Japanese company called Fanuc makes most of the robots in our lab. I'd like to roll my senior research project into a career with Fanuc that bridges the two countries and cultures."
