Exposure to different experiences at Lake Superior State University helped me to learn and decide what I wanted to do with my life. There were many opportunities to help my learning experience, including day and weekend trips to various geological sites. It wasn’t all travel though; there was lots of hands-on experience that helped demonstrate what we learned in lectures.

Seasonal Student Issues

There’s a seasonal ebb and flow when it comes to student issues. Here are a few thoughts on what your student may be experiencing this winter.

January

Feeling happy and/or restless after the holiday break
Missing family and friends back home
Glad to be reunited with campus friends
Resolving to do better academically
New leadership opportunities may be available for emerging leaders
Renewed interest in classes
Unwanted weight gain after the holidays
Cold weather blues (in some areas of the country)
Possible roommate changes
Thinking about where they’ll live during the 2006-07 academic year

"One of my favorite things about LSSU is its size. The classrooms, especially as you get to the upper levels, get smaller, so you not only have a chance to discuss your ideas in an honest, supportive manner, but you also get to know your professors and classmates. The upper level courses really allow you to focus on what you love, and the small class size allows you to have time to share and to discuss your ideas."
