Alum Success

Jacey Cook

"I am currently enrolled in graduate school, doing both therapy and diagnostic testing with a multitude of age ranges. In therapy, I work with children, adolescents, adults and also provide marriage counseling, parent guidance and family therapy. Diagnostic testing gives me an opportunity to work with a wide range of referral questions such as learning difficulties, attention difficulties, gastric bypass evaluations, intellectual and personality measures. Lake Superior State University gave me a strong background in statistics and other courses that provided me with the skills to success and prepared me for graduate school."

Title III

Computer-Based Instruction (CBI)/Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI)

Opportunity: "Bridging the gap between under prepared students and success"

Strategy: By implementing a more individualized approach to learning via computer-based or computer-assisted instruction, we hope to target a student's level of preparation that would allow the student to learn material at a pace and level appropriate for student success and development.

ALEKS© has been purchased, installed and implemented to allow students to develop their skills and knowledge in various content areas including, but not limited to, mathematics, reading, and English. It is flexible enough to allow for computer-based or computer-assisted instruction and is currently being used in both capacities. ALEKS © is available online, so students can access tutorial and course material anytime, anywhere they have access to the internet. Learning is not confined to a lab or classroom.

For more information on ALEKS, contact Geralyn Narkiewicz at (906) 635-2228 or gnarkiewicz@lssu.edu.
