"Most natural science classes at LSSU offer students as much hands-on experience (lab hours) as lecture hours, which ensures that the university experience prepares us for the real world careers, whether you work at a desk or out in the field, or both. There are endless advantages and opportunities available to LSSU students due to its location on an international border.

I found my career path on campus when my advisor posted a job for the Bi-national Public Advisory Council (BPAC), a group dedicated to and overseeing the clean-up the St. Mary's River. I was able to gain experience and network on both sides of the border, ultimately finding full-time employment before I graduated with my biology degree."

Wrap Up

College is the time to prepare for the great deeds of the future. Here at LSSU we realize that you become part of the University that you attend. There are traditions that get passed along and legacies that get left behind. Every generation that sets foot in the historical buildings of our campus or walks the ground where many have before, leaves something of themselves for others to find. You only have to walk around and read the names of the buildings, plaques on walls, pictures in the library or even the used textbooks to know that you are becoming, when you go to Lake Superior State University, something bigger that yourself. Here at LSSU we call that the Laker Family. We invite you to make history here on campus. Check us out, see for yourself. If you decide to join our family and study here, well will greet you with open arms and embrace you and your contributions to our legacy long after graduation.

"I love the fast pace environment, the people in the profession, and the adrenaline rush of running into a burning building or saving someone’s life," she says.

Rondeau chose Lake Superior State University because it offers the first accredited four-year fire science degree in the United States. She also jumped at the challenge of LSSU's Honors program, which requires her to complete 21 Honors credits, including 10 credits for an Honors seminar/thesis project.
