YOUR HUMOR HERE – Lake Superior State University's comedy improv group - Fill in the Blank - presented for your approval. The group has performances under its belt since last September, and will be doing co-productions with LSSU's Theatre Company during November. SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State University student-organized improv comedy group, Fill in the Blank, is now an officially recognized group on campus. Founded in March of 2009, the group focuses strictly on improvisational comedy and providing laugh worthy material.
Many of Fill in the Blank’s members are also part of LSSU’s Theatre and Drama Club. So it's not surprising that Fill in the Blank started with these students testing out various improv games after Drama Club meetings.
"I love the performances, the practices, interacting with the group and audience, planning the shows, attending the meetings; the whole experience is what makes this so gratifying,” says Fill in the Blank founder and president, Eric Cairns.
Fill in the Blank had its first sponsored event on Wednesday, September 23, in the Galley at LSSU. Student anticipation of the troupe’s return this year was evident in the attendance of the September show, as it was Fill in the Blank’s largest crowd yet.
The troupe rounds out Theatre Company productions on Nov. 6-7 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., in the Arts Center's Black Box Theater. They also have an event in the Cisler Center's Galley on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
“It’s been fun being a part of this group and watching it grow,” says Kyle Stockdale on his involvement with Fill in the Blank.
Fill in the Blank’s members include Eric Cairns (founder and president, senior at LSSU), Gabrielle Castillo (vice president, senior), Kyle Stockdale (treasurer, senior), Ashley Traynor (secretary, senior), Matthew Bell (sophomore), Tory Rowley (senior), Stephen Dishman (sophomore), Cliff Schaut (sophomore), Lauren Benedict (sophomore), and Emma Ringer (sophomore).
