Posted: June 6th, 2012

ESSAR OPPORTUNITIES – Essar Steel Algoma senior staff, including the new CEO, Jim Hrusovsky (right, white shirt, arms crossed), get an up-close look at Lake Superior State University's $1.5 million robotics laboratory during a campus visit in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., on June 4. The Essar contingent was also briefed on LSSU's environmental analysis laboratory, SmartZone breeder building/Product Development Center developments, and plans for a renovated South Hall that will house the School of Business. The visit laid groundwork for business student internships and joint senior-student engineering projects. Doing the robotics lab briefing is David Roland Finley, left, dean of the College of Business and Engineering. LSSU President Tony McLain, center, in the magenta shirt, hosted the visit. Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.-based Essar Steel Algoma produces 2.8 million tons of hot and cold rolled steel each year, with 2011 sales topping 1.7 billion Canadian dollars. (Photo by John Shibley)
