ALLA SALUTE! – Lake Superior State University President Tony McLain, center and in suit, joins with Christopher Columbus Italian-American Society members in a salute to a golf tournament that will benefit an LSSU scholarship created by the Society last year. The Society will hold the inaugural tourney at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course, to help raise funds for the scholarship and bring awareness to a new educational partnership with LSSU. Four-person teams are welcome to the event, which also features great prizes, CC-made Italian sausages on the course turn, and lots of buoni amici e buon tempo — good friends and good times. Registration is $60 per person, which includes a cart for 18 holes of golf and a post-game spaghetti dinner at the C.C. Hall. Non-golfing donors are also welcome to the dinner; all proceeds will benefit the scholarship. The Christopher Columbus Italian-American Society Scholarship at Lake Superior State University was established in 2011 by the board of directors of the Men’s Society, in cooperation with the CC Hall Auxiliary, and with gifts from members and friends. Created to benefit members or the descendant of a member of the Christopher Columbus Italian-American Society, the endowed fund will be available for qualified students enrolled full-time in any major course of study at LSSU.
