Nursing lab becomes theater of the real
Posted: May 1st, 2013
GETTING REAL TO HEAL – Lake Superior State University theater company actor Kelby Ankerson lends an air of realism to professor Jaimee Gerrie's NURS 213, fundamentals of nursing lab, on April 18. Ankerson was coached to portray a disoriented patient requiring focused care, including hand-offs between four shifts. LSSU's School of Nursing plans to engage many more actors in similar exercises, under the auspices of fine and performing arts professor Jennifer Hunter. Ankerson is a sophomore from Williamsburg, Mich., majoring in general engineering with an Associate's in manufacturing engineering technology. (LSSU/John Shibley)
