Health Care Center Services

Health care services are available on campus at the LSSU Health Care Center. The Health Care Center is a family practice offering primary care and a wide range of services, some of which are listed below. We serve students and the public. Registered LSSU students have no out of pocket expense for most services. The Health Care Center practitioners include a physician assistant, a nurse practitioner, and a consulting physician. Our providers have authority to order a wide range of prescriptions and tests. Services are available Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. Hours of operation may be reduced during the summer semester and University breaks.

Mom In A Bag

Many illnesses are viruses. Normally a virus is not treated with an antibiotic. To help our students through a virus the LSSU Health Center staff provides what we call a Mom in a Bag. There is no cost for this bag. It contains information on self care measures. It also contains over the counter supplies, kleenex, hand sanitizer, chicken soup, hot apple cider, acetaminophen, Pepto Bismol, thermometer and cough drops. To obtain a Mom in a Bag – stop in the Health Center and request a bag.

Feel Well – Do Well

LSSU Students – the Health Center will have our “Feel Well-Do Well” bags available for you during exam week. These are free for our students! The bags contain – a bottle of water, mini candy bars, granola bar, gum, vitamin C Drops and play doh. The “Feel Well – Do Well” Bags are compliments of your LSSU Heath Care Center and the Campus Life Office
