The LSSU campus will be closed Saturday, March 3, 2018 to test Line 1 of the main electrical system. At this time, campus will be powered by a single three-phase power line.
Crews will be disconnecting campus from the main power grid starting at 8 a.m. to allow the contractor, J Ranck Electric, to work safely on troubleshooting the issue.
Considine Hall will be powered by a generator. The second floor will be open to students who remain on campus. A scrap booking retreat will be utilizing other areas of Considine Hall. All other buildings will remain closed during the power shut down. The library, Crawford Hall and the Arts Center will have limited generator power; however, the buildings will be closed during the shutdown.
Employees and students are urged to shut down computers and any other electrically-powered equipment prior to 8 a.m. on Saturday.
LSSU Public Safety will be monitoring buildings during shut down. Please report any concerns to Public Safety at 906-635-2100 (x2100) immediately.
Updates regarding the status and findings of the work will be available by the end of day on Saturday.
