The Agilent Ultivo LC-MS/MS is a high performance compact triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The Ultivo is our workhorse LC-MS for the analysis of small polar compounds and is equipped with the Agilent Jetstream ESI interface for high sensitivity and a 1290 Infinity II UHPLC.
The Agilent 6070A LC-MS/MS is used primarily for analysis of PFAS compounds, an emerging contaminant of significant current interest. The 6070A is equipped with Agilent Jet Stream ESI and APCI sources and a 1290 Infinity II UHPLC
The Agilent 6230B LC-TOF-MS is equipped with Agilent Jet Stream high sensitivity ESI and APCI sources and a 1290 Infinity II UHPLC. The time of flight mass spectrometer achieves high mass resolution (<1ppm) at m/z up to 20,000, and is used for both structural confirmation and non-targeted analysis.
The Agilent 1260 is used for applications that do not require the sensitivity and selectivity of a mass spectrometer. The 1260 is most commonly used for Cannabis potency analysis (THC, CBD etc.) and other routine applications.
The Agilent 7010B GC-MS/MS is equipped with a High Efficiency EI Source and 8890 GC.
The Agilent 5977B GC-MS with Inert Plus EI and CI sources, 8890 GC, and 7697A Headspace Sampler for automated volatile compound analysis.
The Agilent 8890 GC has two detectors: 1) a FID detector for hydrocarbons and a 2) ECD detector for high sensitivity quantification of halogenated organic compounds. Â The 8890 is also equipped with a 7697A Headspace Sampler for automated volatile compound analysis.
The Agilent 7800 ICP-MS is our highest sensitivity instrument for elemental composition and trace element/heavy metal analysis. The Agilent 7800 ICP-MS is equipped with a He/H2 mode collision reaction cell and O2 plasma addition.
Agilent 4200 MP-AES with external gas control module for N2 spectrophotometer purge and O2 plasma addition. Based on a unique microwave excited plasma, the Agilent 4200 MP-AES is capable of quantifying the elemental composition of samples rapidly and inexpensively. Flexible and easy to use, the MP-AES excels when ultra trace measurements are not required.
The Agilent 8700 LDIR in an infrared chemical imaging system that is capable of point analysis, automated particle analysis, and chemical distribution mapping. As a molecular spectroscopy technique, LDIR responds to variations in molecular or mineral composition. Unlike conventional FTIR microscopes, LDIR uses a rapid scanning tunable quantum cascade laser to collect infrared data between 975-1800cm-1.
The Agilent Cary 8454 UV/Vis has a diode array detector for full spectrum (190-1100nm) measurements, kinetics software, and a temperature controlled cell.
The Molecular Devices SpectraMax M2 is a research grade monochromator based UV/Vis cuvette/microplate reader with fluorescence and luminescence capabilities.
The Metrohm 930 IC is utilized to perform anion chromatography with conductivity detection (Fluoride, Chloride, Bromide, Nitrate, Nitrite, Phosphate, Sulfate).
The Mars 6 is used to acid digest/decompose solid samples for elemental analysis by ICP-MS and/or MP-AES.
We have four HEPA filtered clean bench workstations available for sample and reagent preparation.
We have a high capacity centrifuge with both fixed angler and swinging bucket rotors that can accommodate 15ml and 50ml centrifuge tubes.
We have a second centrifuge that is typically equip[ped with a rotor for 50ml centrifuge tubes.
The probe dismembrator uses high power ultrasound to disrupt/lyse cell membranes and extract chemical compounds for analysis. The sound proof cabinet reduces noise levels sufficiently such that ear protection is not required.
The lyophilizer is used to remove water from specimens prior to analysis. It is particularly useful when oven drying would result in loss of analyte.
The sample planer is used to produce a flat surface on medical tablets and similar specimens prior to infrared chemical imaging with the Agilent 8700 LDIR or SEM-EDS.
The heating ultrasonic bath is suitable for precision cleaning, degassing samples, and ultrasound assisted extractions.
The microbalance is capable of measuring quantities down to 1 microgram. An antistatic device eleminates the effects of static on non-conductive samples.
The Muffle Furnace can heat samples to 1100 C (~2000 F). The Muffle furnace is primarily used for loss on ignition testing and for sample fusion prior to ICP-MS or MP-AES analysis. A variety of crucibles and fusion fluxes are available.
We have three ultrapure water systems suitable for producing Type I reagent water for ultra trace chemical analysis.
We occasionally need to manufacture specialized parts, sampling apparatuses, or other laboratory equipment. The 3D printer has significantly simplified this task, as we can often manufacre what we need right in the lab the same day.
